Initial Client Problem

Our client had a problem with the lube oil supply system to the turbine bearing. In this system, there was a pressure drop during start - stop from the Main Lube Oil Pump (main lubrication pump) to the auxiliary pump. The working pressure dropped from 96 psi to 45 psi in 2 seconds. The working pressure should be maintained at a minimum of 69 psi. The Main Lube Oil Pump has a flow rate of 612 US GPM and a pressure of 108.25 psi. The discharge volume must be maintained at a minimum of 90-96 psi for 2-3 seconds. Our client needed an engineering company that can perform precise volume calculations, installation design and monitoring.

Our Solution

We performed engineering calculations, installation design, modification and commissioning. The type of accumulator used was EBV 456-20 / ID-F-100-SO with DN100 welding neck flange connection, PN16 bar was equipped with permanent monitoring. The result was that the working pressure in the Lube Oil system became stable at 103 psi during the Main Lube oil pump replacement to the Auxiliary Lube
