Initial Client Problem

Our client is a shipping services company. One of their crew vessels with a capacity of 60 people had engine failure. Their Biodiesel B30 fuel wasn't pretreated and the filtration system was inadequate. The initial water content was 875 PPM and the cleanliness was ISO 23/22/20 (minimum standard is ISO 18/16/13). Therefore the engine malfunctioned due to its fuel pump and injector damages. The engine manufacturer recommended the Fuel Treatment System from Tekno Fluida to keep the warranty validity. In addition, we were challenged by the area limitation of the engine room, thus small dimension equipment was required.

Our Solution

The engine manufacturer approved our Fuel Treatment System for their engine, therefore our client was protected from the engine warranty annulment. The manufacturer also approved treatment from daily tank circulating and from bottom tank to daily tank transfer, as we suggested. The post-treatment water content was 381 PPM and the cleanliness was ISO 17/16/13 (single pass).
